Senior UX Designer

Founded in the 60s and a member of one of the world’s largest marketing groups, this Global Brand Consultancy was listed as one of the The Sunday Times Best Companies to work for. In their own words, their work helps clients capitalise on moments of change in business and society by framing new opportunities and inventing new experiences. They do this by developing unique brand experiences, products that drive demand, and creatively led business strategies. With clients that are leaders in all categories including technology, culture, media, retail, industry, and non-profit organisations.

You will be encouraged to demonstrate what can best be described as your ‘magical’ qualities – the ability to shift the hearts and mindsets of colleagues and clients to new heights and create unique, special and sustainable brand experiences. The culture is one of high expectation, where total collaboration is a given but individual inventiveness is critical. Here exceptional results are less an exception and more the norm.

To do this, they have 180 people across four offices, in three main skill groups: strategists, designers and account managers. With the main hubs based in London, New York, San Francisco & Dubai.

The London office is a converted warehouse by the canal in Kings Cross, London. It houses a fantastic in-house restaurant and kitchen, which provides free breakfasts and subsidised lunches. Aiming to encourage a healthy lifestyle, it doesn’t stop there; they hold free weekly yoga, martial arts and pilates classes. On top of that there are a series of seminars and sessions from in-house and outside talkers as part of the norm.

Expect to be looked after.

Under the guidance of our user experience director, you will work in carefully curated teams of designers, strategists, programme managers and developers to bring experiences to life. You will also be working closely with client product teams and partners to implement our vision

The user-centered design process will form the basis of the role, however the fast pace and need to demonstrate thought-leadership means an ability to form independent opinions, draw on alternate sources of insight and demonstrate creativity is essential.

As you would expect there’s a big requirement around understanding brand – how it plays out in user experiences, but also how the nature of brand is evolving due to our increasingly digital lifestyles.

  • User research – both guerrilla techniques and more in-depth, ethnographic approaches
  • Sketching – being able to communicate ideas quickly to a range of different stakeholders (both internal, users and clients)
  • Journey mapping – working within the full context of a user’s experience
  • Content strategy – auditing and defining content requirements
  • Information architecture – structuring information to ensure an optimum experience
  • Wire-framing – firming up ideas in order to present to clients and colleagues, for multiple devices and platforms
  • Prototyping – being able to rapidly bring experiences to life
  • Testing – using different techniques to gather feedback from end users
  • Specification – describing the experience for build. (Whilst this won’t be a major part of the role, there might be times when this is required)

  • You will have worked on a plethora of digital projects; from large content builds to tailored applications, that can demonstrate a variety of skills, across research, responsive design, information architecture and even service design.
  • A strong focus on the needs of the end consumer is a must, but more than that, these guys need someone who can demonstrate creativity when addressing these needs. We’re looking for someone who understands and can demonstrate when in the journey to apply best practice and when to develop something more innovative.
  • You will also need to be able to demonstrate your thought process and the ability to create alternative solutions to a problem. You must be a creative thinker who feels at home sketching, iterating and pushing boundaries, and someone who can think strategically as well as tactically.

  • Familiarity with both agile and waterfall project management methodologies
  • Experience in responsive design
  • Use of wire-framing software
  • Experience of prototyping
  • A degree in one of the design disciplines would be ideal but not essential

  • Influence: Work on game changing projects that have a big positive impact in the world
  • Entrepreneurialism: The possibility for entrepreneurialism in an environment with low risk
  • Collaborative Environment: Genuine culture where the idea can come from anywhere
  • Shape a new team: The opportunity to join and shape the growing tech community, and to help establish user-centered and service design capabilities alongside some of the world’s top designers and strategists
